History

The world consists of two types of people: Those with special powers and those with none. Those without powers are referred to as "Mundanes." Those with special powers have two terms. The Mundane population refers to them as "Aberrants", while the Unseen Squad and Slayer Brigade refer to them as "Elites."

On the surface, Korey Moonraker is an ordinary young man, but he carries a secret. He's the son of Kraven Moonraker, the Unseen Squad Director. And one day Korey will succeed his father in this role.
To that end, Korey has been training in secret, learning both martial arts and leadership skills from his father. To protect his son, Kraven had kept Korey's existence a secret from the Unseen Squad agents. But Korey's life is flipped upside down when he is attacked by a woman named Sadira Culver. Luckily a few Unseen Squad agents drop by the gym and rescue him, but in a fatal slip of the tongue, he introduces himself. The agents recognize his surname being the same as Kraven's and realize that the two are related.

The next morning, Korey receives a visit from Kraven, who's trying to find out how he had been discovered. Korey insists that he was just a random target for Sadira, but also admits that he had screwed up in telling the Unseen Squad agents his surname. Seeing as nothing could be done about the exposure of his identity, Kraven decides to bring Korey into the Squad as an agent to further his training. This would allow Korey to get to know the Elite agents and learn how to work with them. Korey forms a friendly bond with the 300-year-old dhampir, Justin Martingale, and they get into a deep discussion about fairy tales versus reality.

Shortly after, Kraven puts Korey in charge of the Unseen Squad temporarily while he undergoes an operation. During this time, Korey leads a mission to retrieve a Power Amulet from a hidden cavern, something the Slayer Brigade is also after. It is there Korey encounters Sadira again, and she once again subdues him easily with her webbing. He is terrified when she recognizes him from their first encounter, and even asserts that she wants to keep him. Justin intervenes to save Korey, and the Squad forces the Slayer Brigade to retreat. The Unseen Squad successfully retrieves the Power Amulet, but Korey is left pale and shaken from his interactions with Sadira.

Shortly after, Kraven recovers from his operation and congratulates his son for his successful mission, but also notices Korey's troubled look and takes him aside for a heart-to-heart. Korey understands that as the future Unseen Squad Director he can't afford to be afraid of Elites, but admits that he is terrified of Sadira. Kraven understands Korey's fear and tells him to remain strong, even in the worst-case scenario.

To help overcome his fear and become skilled enough to defend himself against the likes of Sadira, Korey asks Justin for daily sparring. Justin agrees, understanding the type of opponent Sadira is.

Shortly after, Korey returns to town, visiting Mack's Diner. There he is forced to kill a man who was apparently possessed. At that point, Korey realizes that he is no longer part of the ordinary world.

Personality

Korey is a Mundane, a regular human possessing no special powers. He has some big shoes to fill, as he's assigned to take over as Director of the Unseen Squad when his father, Kraven Moonraker, retires or dies. He's been taking his training seriously, determined to prove that he can handle the responsibility. He really has his work cut out for him, as he's a Mundane among Elites, which puts him at a natural disadvantage in battle. This is especially evident in his encounters with Sadira Culver, a femme fatale with spider-like abilities. In all of their encounters so far, Sadira has used her webbing to easily restrain Korey. On top of that, she seems to have developed an unhealthy obsession with him, which further terrifies him.

Despite being young and inexperienced, Korey quickly earns the respect of the Unseen Squad agents. He applies the skills he's been learning throughout his life, and shows willingness to learn and improve even more. He has to, as he's already at a significant disadvantage simply because of his Mundane status. His status does bring about some insecurities and anxieties, not wanting to be a liability to his teammates by needing protection all the time. Most of his fears revolve around Sadira Culver, the woman who attacked him at the gym. Not only does she overpower him easily, but she's developed an unhealthy obsession with him as well. It took a great deal of courage for Korey to lead a handful of agents on the Power Amulet mission despite knowing that he would encounter Sadira again. Granted, he was hoping that she wouldn't recognize him. But not only did she remember him, but she makes it clear that she wants to "keep" him. What that means is anyone's guess, but Korey suspects that she wants him as a pet, and he doesn't want that to happen.

This is the main reason why Korey turns to Justin, asking him for daily sparring sessions to help him improve his skills. Justin has about 300 years worth of martial arts experience, plus enhanced strength and speed on top of that, so Korey knew he would be the best candidate to train with.

Korey's interactions with Sadira have affected him in an extremely negative way. She has dominated over him both physically and emotionally. She makes no attempt to hide her sadistic nature, flat-out telling Korey that she wants to see him squirm, and that imagining his beautiful face straining in pain gives her chills. Her fixation on him just makes it even worse, as she once again tries to capture him in their second encounter. Korey has no idea what she plans to do with him if she does keep him, but nothing he imagines would be good, which scares him even more. Somehow Korey must manage his fear and anxiety and rise to become a capable leader and warrior despite Sadira's shadow constantly looming over him.

Although Korey respects all of the other agents, he has hardly formed any close bonds except with Justin, with whom he develops a friendly dynamic. He also has a close relationship with his father, Kraven Moonraker. Korey confides in his father regarding his fears about Sadira in particular, telling him, "The fact that she's an Elite and I'm not means I can't do shit against her. If she catches me, then I'm screwed in more ways than one." This shows just how powerless Korey feels against Sadira, and also how much he trusts his father. Regardless, he's determined to overcome his fear and become a worthy successor to the Unseen Squad Director position.
